Spiritually integrated therapy in Toronto for life transitions, depression, grief, psychedelic and ketamine integration.

Interbeing is to realize that we exist in relationship.

Growth and healing are limited in isolation, but in community and relationship, the directions we can grow in expand. Human connection brings awareness of the mirrors that reflect our image back to us: new perspectives, blind spots, being challenged and challenging, and having our desires, sufferings, and experiences heard and held.

My commitment as a therapist is to use our relationship to bring awareness to the conditions that lead to growth, movement, and flourishing.

About me

Aliya Lucatch, RP (Qualifying), MSc

Aliya Lucatch seated outdoors on a bench beneath trees

I'm Aliya, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) based in Toronto, offering virtual individual therapy to clients across Ontario.

My dedication for this work is driven by lived experience, and a need it left me with for expansive, holistic approaches to mental health. Earlier in my career, I conducted research related to mental health and addiction and spent several years in the non-profit sector working with a variety of charitable organizations. This work showed me that mental health struggles are not only personal, but also a symptom of our collective systems. I began supplementing my personal therapy with spiritual practice and community building, deepening my connection with the more-than-human world.

Outside of work, you might find me making or dancing to music, out in the wilderness hiking or camping, petting every dog I walk past, deep in my creative project of the month, spending quality time with my loved ones, or with my nose buried in a classic novel. I'm actively involved in the emerging local community around psychedelic care and consciousness expansion.

My Training

  • RP (Qualifying), College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (2026)
  • 1.5 years of clinical training at the University Health Network (UHN) and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
  • Master of Psychospiritual Studies (MPS), Emmanuel College (ongoing)
  • Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Certificate, Vancouver Island University (2026)
  • Master of Science (MSc), Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto (2019)
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc), University of Toronto Scarborough (2017)

My approach

I believe in each person's innate capacity to move towards wholeness. I provide therapy that is grounded in an accepting and caring therapeutic relationship, that is co-created, trauma-informed, and person-centered. This will be a place to safely explore your thoughts, emotions, experiences, and challenges with curiosity. This process can often bring what's hidden into view, reshape your perspective, or open new ways of being in relationship with the world.

My approach draws on

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Existential Psychotherapy
  • Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy
  • Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT)
  • Psychodynamic Therapy

Who I work with

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, bereavement, spiritual/existential crises, psychosis, life-limiting medical diagnoses, end-of-life, and psychedelic experiences. I have clinical training from leading healthcare institutions, including the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and University Health Network (UHN).

In particular, I have expertise with folks who are…

01

Navigating major life changes, depression, anxiety, feeling stuck, and liminality

Liminality is the space in between. In this space, there is a tendency to feel lost, disconnected from meaning, direction, and purpose. Life will never be quite as it was, with no clear sense of what comes next.

This can be brought on by relationship difficulties, uncertainty about the future, depression, loss (including death), and other mental health struggles. Within this space there is the opportunity to learn about oneself, rebuild, transform, and live according to what really matters.

02

Incorporating spirituality into their life

Spirituality means different things to different people. Here, I use it to refer to the way people look for and express meaning and purpose, and the way they experience their connectedness to the present moment, to themselves, to others, to nature, and to the significant or sacred. This may include ideas about God, or not at all.

In my approach, I consider four dimensions of well-being: biological, psychological, social and spiritual/existential. By exploring your worldview, culture, beliefs, community, practices, and sources of connection, we can work together to broaden this area of your life.

03

Integrating a psychedelic or transformative experience

I have specialized training in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy. Given the current legal status of psychedelic medicines, I work from a harm-reduction lens. I do not provide or source medicine. I do not sit with people during sessions. I do work with people who are receiving their own ketamine treatment or who are exploring on their own, and our work together is to build a scaffolding of preparation and integration around that. This involves the verbal and non-verbal, the relational, symbolic, embodied and spiritual aspects of experience.

Integration therapy can also be helpful for people who have had a non-drug related transformative, non-ordinary, or "mystical" experience. These experiences can offer a window into the depths of yourself. If you don't make the effort to recall and understand the experience, the memory may fade away and you will return to life as usual.

Services and fees

My rate is $160 per 50-minute session.

Reimbursement from insurance coverage for psychotherapy services.

My intention is to reduce the financial barriers. Fees in this field are an economic justice issue. The wellbeing that therapy supports shouldn't be reserved for those who can pay full price or have access to insurance.

I offer sliding scale rates as part of an honest, collaborative conversation about what's sustainable for both of us. This can be discussed as part of our consultation.

Frequently asked questions

What are your ethical commitments and values?
  • Cultural humility: I look to you as the expert of your life, beliefs, values and worldview. I am committed to ongoing learning and to expanding my understanding of cultures and worldviews other than my own.
  • Affirming of diverse, queer & trans identities: Identity is the gravitational centre from which we navigate the world. Part of the work of therapy is developing a strong sense of self, and an affirming, non-judgmental, open and caring environment is essential to that process.
  • Anti-oppressive: Mental health cannot be reduced to a personal problem. It is a collective symptom of a broken society, and that has to be acknowledged and integrated into therapy.
  • Restoring the value of the collective & community: Part of healing is actively building a sense of connectedness: with others, with our communities, with our values and ethics, with the natural world that we are a part of and made from, sensing ourselves as belonging to something larger.
  • Providing accessibility accommodation: I will work with you to make therapy as accessible as possible, whether that means adjusting scheduling, technology, pacing, or recalibrating my approach.
  • Advocating for access & equity in mental health care: Current ways of providing mental health care are not sufficient to meet the need. While I still work within this system, I am looking for opportunities to change it and to make room for new ideas and other ways of providing care.
  • Resisting commodification & exploitation of wisdom traditions: As interest in psychedelics and mindfulness grows, there is a tendency for these sacred lineages to be flattened into something that can be neatly packaged and sold. I work in a way to honour and respect these lineages and prioritize being in right relationship. This is a lifelong effort.
What is psychedelic integration therapy?

Integration is the work of making meaning from a significant or non-ordinary experience and carrying what it offered into daily life. I provide integration support before and after psychedelic experiences. I do not provide or supply psychedelic substances. I do not offer psychedelic-assisted therapy outside of legally sanctioned settings.

Does insurance cover a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)?

Many extended health plans reimburse services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Coverage varies, so it is worth checking your plan for psychotherapy or registered psychotherapist coverage before we begin.

What kinds of concerns do you work with?

Depression, anxiety, grief and bereavement, life transitions, burnout, existential and spiritual crisis, questions of meaning and purpose, and integration after transformative experiences.
